Why Everyone’s Moving to the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is experiencing a significant population surge, positioning it as one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions. Notably, interstate and overseas migration, along with natural population increases, are fueling this growth.

With new data showing a 12:1 ratio of people moving in versus leaving. Lifestyle appeal, remote work flexibility, and access to nature continue to drive demand, especially from southern states and Brisbane. Premium suburbs like Surfers Paradise, Paradise Point, and Clear Island Waters have seen annual price growth of up to 28.3%, with analysts forecasting another boom year ahead. As luxury housing outpaces the broader market, the Gold Coast remains firmly in the spotlight for buyers seeking sun, space, and long-term value.

According to the Queensland Government Statistician’s Office, the Gold Coast’s population grew by 19,170 people in the year ending June 30, 2023, bringing the total to approximately 682,490. Looking ahead, if this growth rate continues, the Gold Coast could reach a population of one million by 2037, nearly a decade ahead of earlier forecasts.

In particular, the region’s appealing lifestyle, job opportunities, and infrastructure developments are accelerating this rapid growth. Moreover, the Gold Coast’s economy, valued at nearly $50 billion, continues to attract new residents seeking a balanced and vibrant lifestyle.

In response, a new wave of development is reshaping not just the skyline, but the standard. One such project is South Beach, our ‘coming soon’ destination in Surfers Paradise, set to redefine wellness living. Designed to meet the evolving demands of modern seaside life, South Beach will deliver an elevated blend of world-class amenity, considered design, and a daily rhythm grounded in wellbeing.

Ultimately, as the city continues to expand, developments like South Beach will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Gold Coast, ensuring it remains a desirable destination for both current and future residents.
